Up to now, the subject has received relatively little attention from the academic community, however, interest has been rising steadily, and the research community of robophilosophy conferences is beginning to expand. This book presents the proceedings of Robophilosophy 2020: Culturally Sustainable Social Robotics, the fourth event in the biennial Robophilosophy conference series, which to date is still the world's largest conference in Humanities research dedicated to the subject of social robotics. Because of restrictions due to the Covid-19 pandemic, this 2020 edition took the form of a hybrid event, with live and pre-recorded content accessible online during an extended period via an interactive webpage. Contributors were invited to offer concrete proposals for how the Humanities can help to shape a future where social robotics is guided by the goals of enhancing socio-cultural values rather than mere utilities.
